The Virtue of Fasting Six Days of Shawwaal
Posted by administrator on Tuesday, September 04 @ 18:11:22 AST (874 reads)
Fasting six days of Shawwaal after the obligatory fast of Ramadaan is Sunnah Mustahabbah, not waajib. It is recommended for the Muslim to fast six days of Shawwaal, and in this there is great virtue and an immense reward. Whoever fasts these six days will have recorded for him a reward as if he had fasted a whole year, as was reported in a saheeh hadeeth from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).

Zakat-ul-Fitr

by Shaykh Abû Bakr Jâbir al-Jaza'iry
It Ruling
Zakat-ul-Fitr is a Sunnah that is obligatory upon every individual Muslim. This is due to Ibn ‘Umar’s statement, may Allah be pleased with him:
“The Messenger of Allah made Zakat-ul-Fitr obligatory during Ramadhan as one Sa’ of dried dates or one Sa’ of barley upon the slave and the free man, the male and the female, and the young and the old of the Muslims.” (Al-Bukhari and Muslim)
Its Wisdom
From the wisdom of Zakat-ul-Fitr is that it purifies the fasting soul from the effects of useless, non-beneficial speech (or acts) and obscene speech (or behavior). Likewise, it keeps the poor and needy people from having to beg on the day of ‘Eid. Ibn ‘Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, said:
“The Messenger of Allah made Zakat-ul-Fitr obligatory as a purification for the fasting person from useless, non-beneficial speech (or acts) and obscene speech (or behavior), and as a means of feeding the poor.” (Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah, and it was graded Sahih by Al-Hakim). [1]
The Prophet saws also said:
Keep them (the poor) from having to beg on this day. (Al-Bayhaqi - and its chain of narration is weak)

How we should receive Ramadhaan - II
Posted by administrator on Tuesday, July 10 @ 22:38:50 AST (1715 reads)
5. Receiving Ramadhaan by making the best use of time
Time is very precious because every minute that passes can never return. Ramadhaan is also a means of success or failure, salvation or destruction…
Amongst the obligatory and recommended acts of worship in Ramadhaan are:
First: Fasting during the daytime:
Allaah The Almighty Says (what means): {So whoever sights [the new moon of] the month, let him fast it; and whoever is ill or on a journey - then an equal number of other days.} [Quran 2: 185]
Moreover, the Prophet, sallallahu alayhe wa sallam, said: “Whoever fasts Ramadhaan out of faith and seeking the reward of Allaah, his previous sins will be forgiven.” [Al-Bukhaari and Muslim]
Second: Performing voluntary night prayers (the Taraaweeh prayer):
It was narrated that the Prophet, sallallahu alayhe wa sallam, said: “Whoever stands (in voluntary prayer at night in) Ramadhaan out of faith and seeking the reward of Allaah, his previous sins will be forgiven.” [Al-Bukhaari and Muslim]

How we should receive Ramadhaan - I
Posted by administrator on Sunday, July 08 @ 22:57:04 AST (1724 reads)
People have various ideas and ways of receiving the blessed month of Ramadhaan and invest this occasion in fulfilling their favorite actions and activities. Some of them make this an occasion for laziness, idleness, sleep and neglecting the different acts of obedience that they could otherwise be doing. Others find this a good opportunity for watching shows on satellite television while others stay up late at night and use this precious time to pay visits, go to markets, relax, make trips and the like while others make it an occasion for exaggeration in eating, drinking and doing whatever they like, as if Ramadhaan is the month of food and drink, and not the month of fasting.
However, there are some other people for whom Allaah The Almighty wants good for and thus guides them to the right way so that they became able to differentiate between what is right and what is wrong. Such people receive this blessed month warmly and happily since they believe that it is a golden opportunity to attain forgiveness for sins and make a new start that would be sin-free. In fact, the blessed month of Ramadhaan is the month of forgiveness, mercy and emancipation from Hell. The Prophet, sallallahu alayhe wa sallam, used to give his Companions glad tidings on the arrival of Ramadhaan saying: “There has come to you Ramadhaan, a blessed month which Allaah has enjoined you to fast, during which the gates of Paradise are opened and the gates of Hell are closed, and the rebellious devils are chained up. In it there is a night which is better than a thousand months - whoever is deprived of its goodness is indeed deprived.” [An-Nasaa’i, Al-Albaani: Saheeh (Authentic)]

The Believer is the mirror of the Believer

Sheikh Saalih al-Fouzaan
Translated by Abu Fouzaan Qaasim
In the name of Allaah, the Most Beneficent, Most Merciful. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family and companions. As for what follows;
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah, may Allaah be pleased with him, said: The Messenger of Allaah, may peace and blessings be upon him, said:
“ The believer is the mirror of the believer.”[Abu Daawud 4918 with a good chain]
Sheikh Saalih al-Fouzaan, may Allaah preserve him, explains this hadeeth by saying:
“A mirror is that which you see yourself when you stand in front of it whether the picture is presentable or needs fixing and modificaton. When a person wishes to leave from his home, he stands in front of the mirror because there may be something that he needs to correct on himself or remove from his clothing or the like. For a person to have a pleasant appearance in front of the people is a good thing, however there is the figurative meaning of mirror that shows you your deficiencies and that is your Muslim brother/sister.
