I'm so happy that i got some posts back!! I came from a Catholic religion family and its soo hard learning all over again. I have trouble with the islamic terms like Inishalla (SP?) lol im soo bad at all this and i dont know what they mean. I'll be getting married sometime next year hopfully because my fiancee' is going to Pakistan for school to become a dentist. So after we get married ill be going to pakistan with with him to help him finish up his schooling. Thats why i kinda need help cus im pretty sure its a religious country im sure. SO i need all the help i need!! Im soo happy that i chose islam as my new faith. I'm glad that i feel at home on this site, most forums i've been to i didnt get any type of help what so ever. So im glad that i finally found somewhere where i feel at home!

My name is Aisha too.. :wink:
Congradulations and Wecome to Islam my dear sister.
I am a convert too. I converted a year and a half ago. I am 19 years old and it was sooo dificlut for me to adjust to Islamic etiqettes and learn all the popular terms in Islam. Inshallah ( Allah willing) you will conquer it too
I advise you to make a small list of Islamic terms if that's what you want to learn right now:
Inshallah = Allah willing
Mashallah= What Allah wills
Deen= Religion
Hijab= Headscarf
Niqab=Face veil
Jilbab/Abaya=long dress
Adhan/Azan= Call to prayer
Iqamah=shortened call to prayer right before praying
Salat/Salah=Prayer
Wudu=ablution
Allahu Alim=Allah knows best
Astagfirullah=Allah forgive me
Allahu Akbar=Allah is the greatest
Fard=obligatory
Sunnah=The way of the Prophet (saw)
Salallahu Alayhi wa Sallam(saw)= Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him (said everytime you mention the Prophet's name)
Kuffar=Disbelievers
Kafir=Disbeliever (one)
Jahiliyah= Time or Days of Ignorance
Inshallah this is just a short list , you can find a long list of common terms in the back of the Quran.
Another advice is if you are going to read books on Islam, don't jump to difficult subjects but first read about Tauhid (Oneness of Allah), books on Prayer and Ablution, Fasting and Ramadhan, Rights and Resposibilities of a Muslim. etc, then you can start reading about Hadith (sayings and doings of the Prophet (s.a.w)
If you are planning on getting married or already married, I suggest you to read a book on marriage. It will benefit you and the spouse greatly because each spouse's rights and responsibilities are clearly stated.
Inshallah (Allah willing) you will learn more with every day. Just have patience and Trust Allah.
your sister in Islam,
Aisha a.k.a. ~*NiNjA*~

I don't know where you live but I can give you a book store online.
www.darussalam.com
and I recommend to start learning from www.islamtomorrow.com
Inshallah (Allah willing) you will become a scholar :wink:
I don't know of any organizations to join, except this one ofcourse
The best thing I did when I just converted was find a good PRACTICING sister from a MOSQUE and ask call her up/meet up and speak with her. When I reverted to Islam, I felt soo lonely because I no longer had anything in common with my non-muslim friends and had no muslim friends except my husband. He really helped me but there's so much a man can do..lol
If you don't feel comfortable meeting sisters in the Mosque, you can always ask ANYTHING here.
Do you already know that you are not allowed to pray,fast, and have sexual intercouse when you have your menses?
You also should know how to make Ghusl , which is taking a bath after menses and sexual intercourse/discharge. While taking the bath you just wash your hands first three times each, then wash your private parts, then same steps as for wudu (ablution) except you wash or wet your hair and pass your hands three times over the head.
I apologize for being so outward but when I was new I needed a sister to tell me these things because men don't know/want to know usually.lol
Every little queston you have, even if it's how to use the bathroom...lol WE WILL TRY TO ANSWER IT IN THE BEST MANNER POSSIBLE.
PLEASE ask and don't feel shy or embarrased or think that the questions are stupid.
In the beggining I asked so many little questions that the Imam( Teacher,he was my guardian) probably got tired of me..lol
But they benefitted me Alhandullilah (All prais is due to ALLAH) because I didn't even know little things like bathroom etiquettes/table manners/what to do if prayer missed/etc
My email is WpromiseW@aol.com
Sisters please contact me for ANY help.
Assalam Aleikum wa Rahmatullah wa Barakatuhu
(May Allah's peace and mercy and blessings be upon you)
