Bismillahi Rahmanu Raheem.
As-Salaamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh dear sisters.
Dear sister Nahla05,
Your question was not stupid at all. You are probably not the only one to wonder what it means, so by asking your important question you have also helped the other sisters, who are not as brave to ask as you were mashaAllah. 8)
As sister shushu05 said it's a way of saying 'congratulations'.
Literally mabruk/mubarak = you have been blessed (by Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala). So it's more meaningful than congratulations and we are actually making thikr (remembering Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala) each time we say it.
Wa Salaamu alaikum,
Om-AbdulRahman.

Assalamu alaikum,
Your question was not stupid at all sis. If we didn't ask questions how would we ever learn? :?
Like sis Om-AbdulRahman said: Mabrook comes from the words Mubarak which means blessed. Like when we say Eid Mubarak(May you have a blessed Eid). So when someone tells you Mabrook for something they are saying Congratulations which is a form of saying Mubarak.
There are also some who say Mubruch instead of Mabrook but it's all pretty much the same thing. When you hear or read any of those terms you'll know now what they mean. Insha'Allah i was of some help to you sis.
Fi aman Allah.
