ASA,
Dear Sisters, I have been a muslim for almost a year now. I am finding it very hard to find people who will even say hello to me let alone become my friend. When I attend lectures at the majeed all the women there are in there little clicks, for example the pakistani's stay with the pakistani's, egypt with egypt. I thought we were all sisters in islam no matter where we are from. I am in the USA anyone in the tristate are to maybe email.
MaSalama.

Assalamu Alaikum sister
Welcome to the forum!
Unfortunately (well fortunately for you ) I am not in your country, but i am sure at least one sister will be from your area, InshaAllah!
The "clickiness" you describe happens everywhere, I forsee it as being from the same culture therefore they seem more comfortable staying "with their own kind". Not that I think this is right though.

asalam alaikum,
I was from Michigan..One thing I have found out through experience. Even though they may be in their little groups by country, You can Always break through this group thing..My best advice is to be the first to say Asalam Alaikum, go right up to the sisters when they are sitting in their groups and smile and say Asalam Alaikum and shake their hands...keep doing this and treat them the way in which you would have loved to be treated...I do know this is very hard to do, especially if you are a little shy, like myself..But I have done this many times and it does break down the coolness that may of been first felt by both parties. I find the Arabic women very friendly, if you are friendly to them first and if you go out of your way to be friendly..Insha-Allah they will learn to love you...I have made many of my best friends this way...When you sit down say salam to the women next to you and you will be surprized what may come of it...
Just go out of your way to greet your sisters...it does help.

Yes siter sometimes this can be a problem especially from immigrant sisters who do not know english aswell as people born in the west they then are more comfortable with talking to people they can understand or relate too.
Im from the UK im sorry i cant stay at the moment but i will be back to reply, I had freinds within the muslim community befor i became muslim so when i did i had them to help me and they introduced me too many sisters and even brothers so i havent faced the problems you have but it has been difficult at times but still i will reply latter.
