                    Assalam Alaikum

I am a very recent revert from a Christian-United Church Of Christ background. I was most blessed to become friends with someone who has been such an inspiration by way of his Islamic faith and unyielding character. Slowly, I began to learn about Islam and continued to be both surprised and intriqued with the beliefs. It seems as I discover through reading, the more I want to further my knowledge.

I am a medical student and am planning, Insha Allah, to enter medical residency training upon graduation in 3 years. With respect to this, I am also aware that at many times I will be physically separated from the only person who knows and has helped me, thus far, develop my faith.

Please offer ANY thoughts, perhaps, particular suggestions for maintaining inner solitude when facing non-muslim's criticism/rejection, as I only have two Muslim friends, neither of who are female. I have not yet told my non-Muslim friends or parents and feel that support, especially from family, will be limited.

Thank you so much,
Assalam Alaikum,

-Jessica

                    Assallamu Alaikum sister jessica,

I first want to welcome you to the forum sister,

Where abouts are you?. i suggest that you visit your local mosque and involve yourself with a female group.,  Try and get as much knowledge and inner faith before talking to family members/friends ect., This way you will be mentally prepared and strong for their reactions.
Also take things at your OWN pace learn things gradually as there is alot to take  in Alhamduallah.,
You will probably find that peoples reactions are not as bad as you imagined inshallah.,
Also come here and ask us questions,  8)
Inshallah this helps and may Allah guide you sister,
Allah Haffiz
