Assalamulaikum,
My father has been abusive verbally and physically to my mother and the children for the past 20 odd years. The other day in front of all the immediate and not so immediate family, he loudly declared the word TALAQ three times. He has done this before as well.
Does that mean that they are now divorced in the eyes of Allah Almighty? Please shed some light urgently as we still continue living with him.

I am looking for a relevant fatwa to answer your question. However I strongly suggest you contact a Mufti in your community so as he can be aware of all the facts in your personal situation and he will InshaAllah be able to give you a personal fatwa.
