Bismillah, As-salamu alaykum,

I just said my Shahada this week, and thank all the sisters for your congratulations.  The Brother and Sister I said my shahada to said
I should say my prayers in English and Arabic too.  However I live 250
miles from any other Muslims.  Would it be ok, if I said my prayers only
in English until I have the funds to move to a Muslim community in May
or June?  I try to say Arabic but I do not know if I am saying my words
right and I get more flustered than peace.  Can I get some advice whether
to continue with both and it will get better or just do English.

I love my Islam Sister on this site, you are so helpful and wise.

DJ but now Amani

wa 3lekoum alsalaam sister,

First of all all: MABROOK on becoming a muslimah.

Prayers have to be in Arabic sister; but please....don't feel overwhelmed about praying in Arabic, sister Sarah_anisah made a post about on how to pray, it is just above this post and it is called "¸,ø¤º°`°º¤øWANNA BE MUSLIM & LEARN HOW TO PRAYø¤º°`°º¤ø,".

If you go to this and you will see that when you start learing how to pray there is not really much to it and believe me...once you start with your 5 daily prayers this will become second nature to you.

When i first became a muslimah, i used to write the parts of the prayer that i had trouble with on a very small bit of paper to have with me during prayer so i could refer to it.

Once your Arabic starts to improve then you can make your prayers longer by offereing more in them.

Inshallah this will help you smile.gif.

Ma3asalamah,

your sister: Mariam smile.gif x.

Assalamu'alaykum
When a new revert says her prayers in arabic (which she should do) she will get reward for even trying - also if it is pronounced the wrong way. You just have to practise.
InshAllah you can get some tips from the link above.

asalmu alykum Amani.
congradulations sis and alhamdulilah that Allah guided u to the straight path. about the salat is better to say in arabic but if its hard for u to say in arabic then u should say in English until u learn. and i heard this hadith that prohpet muhammad (pbuh) used to teach the converts to say SUBHANALAH WALHAMDULILAH ALAHU AKBAR in there prayers unitil they learn in Arabic.

Anyone post the reference to the hadith, its authentic but i cant get to it right now but inshaAllah i'll keep looking.

Assalamu Alaikum

Taken from this thread: http://sisters.islamway.com/modules.php?na...c&p=56806#56806

Second: If you have not yet learned the manner and characteristics of performing the prayer (i.e. at least the movements and positions), appended to this message is a description from which you can learn. What is requried from you for the time being is to say in the beginning of the prayer and between each movement between positions "Allaahu ak-bar" (a glorification of Allaah). While standing, bowing, prostrating, and sitting, you should say "subhaan allaah wal-hamdu lillaah wa-laa ilaaha illallaahu wallaahu akbar." (Glory be to Allaah, and praise and thanks be to Allaah, and there is no god but Allaah, and Allaah is the most Exalted and Great.) Then conclude the prayer by turning your head to the right then left, each time saying "as-salaamu alaikum."

This way of performing salaat is permissible for you until you can learn and memorize what should be said in each movement and position of the salaat.

*****************************************

Salah has to be prayed in Arabic but as the other sisters have stated dua can be said in any language.

Sarah
