Asalaamu Aleikoom,

My niqaabi sisters-

In the eventual future, insha Allah, I will begin to wear niqab. I have bought a few (full and half ones) but they have all been uncomfortable, either just not sitting right on the face, pressing against the bridge of my nose, being very unbreathable, or preventing me from being able to function normally.

So, I am wondering what online stores sell the best niqaabs and which ones they are.

I have heard the Saudi niqabs are the best fabric but is there anywhere to buy them online?

And are full niqabs with the 1st layer of that soft fabric (I dont't know how to describe it except that on the multi-layer niqabs, when the women flip the layers back int he masjid, the last one, the one closest to their face is different and looks um...soft) that I see a lot of people wearing comfortable? And where can they be bought online?

JazakhAllah Khairan.

As-salamu alaikum,

First of all congratulations on your decision on wearing niqaab masha'Allah. smile.gif May Allah SWT reward you immensly in this dunya and Akhira.

I tried the Saudi niqab while in Saudia and I found them really comfortable. You don't feel it on your face - it is very light. Even when you put the layer down you don't have problems breathing.

Sister lowri_mai recommended the ebay shop of a sister that sells from Saudia. She also sells niqabs. Let me look for the link and insha'Allah I will post it.... smile.gif

As-salamu alaikum,

I found the url:

As Salaamu 'alaykum,

I think the best person to ask is Lowri Mai wink.gif MashaaAllaah she knows a lot about different types of niqaab.

Personally I've found some saudi niqaabs better than others. The better ones in my opinion are the ones of which the layer next to your face (the soft layer you mentioned) is smooth, thin cottony type lining rather than a fuzzier viscose-ey type fabric. Some saudi niqaabs have this, some don't.

Two of my particular favourites:

asalamu alaikum

i have 'experimented' with niqaabs and have a few which I have collected over some time, and usually the ones that you tie with velcro, they are too tight on my head i cant get them on!  I don't know whether thats because I have a bigger than normal head or what?? lol anyway they are always too tight for me when I try them on (me and housemates often have niqaab trying-on sessions lol)

jazak'Allah khair for starting the thread sis it'll be interesting to know the best types of niqaab smile.gif

As Salaamu 'alaykum,

Sis Yasmin- I usually find velcro niqaabs too tight too! As have many other sisters who have tried them. I prefer the tie-fastenings smile.gif

Asalaamu Alaykum

yes its me lol. The Saudi niqabs are very good; but beware since many sold in Saudi (and subsequently by Saudi stores online), are poor quality imports from other countries. While over there I only found two or three decent niqabs. I find the best niqabs are from two Kuwait stores 'the desert boutique' http://www.desertboutique.com and al hediya http://www.alhediya.com they both have their niqabs tailored for them; alhediya's are more expensive but there tends to be more quality control applied; some of the ones i have got from desert boutique are useable and very breathable but the sewing is a little off, etc.  Also the desert boutique uses a less reliable shipping service and the sister who owns the company does not have a fixed time for sending orders (and a blase attitude about that); so you could be waiting months only for your stuff not to arrive. Al hediyas stuff always arrives; in great condition by in the time stated on their site Alhamdulillaah; their niqabs last for years and years but some sisters find the fairly wide, stiff headband a little odd if they are not used to it.

I'd also recommend abakaftans but sometimes she gets her niqabs from a different supplier and the material is not as breathable; ask her if she has the al-abrar ones as they are the best ones she sells. I also like the yemeni niqabs they are made of a fabric similar to a thinner version of the fabric they use for turkish hijabs; like a georgette but softer; and no cotton backing; they are very breathable and excellent for summer;  I have seen a few stores selling them online but the only one I ordered from is 'stick to the sunnah' they have an MSN group; and sometimes sell on ebay (if you search for khimar; if they have items on usually they will show); also this bookshop sells them from her but since they are a third party you may find its a bit more expensive http://www.ummkutubahssalafibooks.com/home.php?cat=45 the stomach length one is almost identical to one I have
