                    Assalamu alaykum sisters,

i have a question that i'm hoping i can get an answer for biggrin.gif

every saturday in my area the local pool is booked for the sisters, and alhamdulillah the pool is well concealed and the women are well covered.
however, the women in charge of the pool are non-muslims. I would just like to know if it is permissable/non-permissable to remove the hijab in front of these women?

Jazaakum allah Kayr.

                    Selam!

Well, i know from my mother in law that you can take off your hijab in front of woman! Her scholar is hanafi. so maybe it's different in others!
In the holy qu'ran is written that you can take it off in front of woman!

But if you don't feel good when you take it off in front of them don't do it!

                    assallamu alaikum sister,

i think if it is just women than you can take of your hijjab,,but i'm not sure of any exact rulings on this,. Are you able to get a swimming hat? remember that when you are swimming to cover your thighs as these are not to be seen even by other muslim women.

Inshallah this helps you,
Allah fiz,.

                    As Salaam Alaikum

i've always wanted to go swimming but what would you wear? coz are you not suppossed to wear loose clothing around other women??? and i think its like a rule that you're not allowed to wear anyting to loose in the swimming pool. so i guess we as muslims wouldn't be allowed???

                    Assalamu alaykum sisters,

i just want to say jazaakum allah kayr to all the sisters that replied to my question biggrin.gif

when i go swimming i usually wear leggings which are right up to my ancles, and i wear a relatively loose t-shirt that reaches my thighs.
as i mentioned earlier, the sisters are also generally well dressed alhamdulillah. so whether or not that makes a difference, Allahu A'lam.

wa'alaykum assalam

                    Salam alikom

Question :

Assalaamu alaikum wa rahmatullah
Are Women allowed to swim in a secluded place together?
If yes. How are they supposed to dress as any dress will stick to the body when wet. Please explain in detail
Wassalaam

Answer :

Praise be to Allaah.

Anything that could be a source of temptation among women must be prevented. So their swimming in clothes that do not cover their ‘awrah (parts of the body which must be covered) properly because they stick to the body is something that is not allowed. If they swim in clothes that cover them, in a place far from the gaze of men, and cover themselves as soon as they come out of the water so that others will not see them in clothes that show the shape or colour of their ‘awrah, then there is nothing wrong with this so long as they adhere to the shar’i conditions. And Allaah knows best.

                    Salam alikom

Question :

I have heard that a kaffir woman id forbidden to look at a muslim woman withpu her hijab. Is this applicable to my mother-inlaw who is an unbeliever

Answer :

Praise be to Allaah.

The scholars differed concerning the ruling on whether Muslim women can take off their hijaab in front of non-Muslim women, because they differed in their interpretation of the aayah in Soorat al-Noor (interpretation of the meaning):

“… and not to reveal their adornment except to their husbands… or their women…” [al-Noor 24:31].

There are three views concerning the Tafseer of this phrase:

That it means Muslim women;

That it means all women, Muslim and non-Muslim;

That it means Muslim women preferably but this is not binding.

The more correct view – and Allaah knows best – is that it is permissible for a Muslim woman to appear (without hijaab) in front of a kaafir woman, unless she fears that the woman may describe her to her husband or to any other stranger (non-mahram man). In that case she has to keep her hijaab on in front of that woman. There is no difference between a kaafir woman and a corrupt Muslim woman in this case.

Among the evidence (daleel) that it is permissible to take off hijaab in front of a kaafir woman is the hadeeth of ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) in which she mentions that a Jewish woman came in to see her and said, “May Allaah protect you from the torment of the grave…” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 1007; Muslim, 584).

Shaykh ‘Abd al-‘Azeez ibn Baaz (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:

“It is not obligatory to wear hijaab in front of them – non-Muslim women – because they are like all other women according to the more correct of the two scholarly views.”

(Fataawaa al-Mar’ah al-Muslimah, 2/582).

What the Muslim woman can uncover in front of a kaafir woman is the same as what she can uncover in front of her mahrams, i.e., the places of adornment or the places of wudoo’.

Shaykh Muhammad Saalih ibn ‘Uthaymeen said: “In front of her mahrams she can uncover her face, head, neck, hands, forearms, feet and calves, and she should cover everything else.”

(Fataawaa al-Mar’ah al-Muslimah, 1/417).

And Allaah knows best.
