assalamu aliakum wa rahmatullah

Does anyone know of a good book of Islamic History (other than the one that Dar-us-Salam) publishes?

As-salamu aleykum - I too look for a book like this. Do you have the one from darussalam or is it because you don't like it? I read somewhere that it was not accurate? which I doubt, darussalam is usually good.

waalaikum as salam wa rahmatullah
I don't own the book by Dar-us-Salam but I was told that in that book some of the sahaba were spoken of in not the best manner..wa Allahu alim....so I am hesitant to purchase it...and again Allah knows Best.

Salaams,

I have just finished a book entitled: Lost History: The Enduring Legacy of Muslim Scientists, Thinkers and Artists by Michael Hamilton Morgan.  It was published by National Geographic and gives alot of really nice information in a very neutral stance (after reading the book, I questioned why I never had learned these things in school).  I'm not sure if it's what you're looking for, but the book was very well written and researched (the author made a point to specify that he wasn't trying to pit one side versus the other, just reporting the facts which was a nice change!).  Perhaps it is something that might help you.  If you can't find it locally, I know the national geographic website sells it from their online store (I had to fight with my local library to get a copy brought in so I could read it).  Hope it helps.
