                    Assalaamalikum,

In a online forum I participate in the question was asked about whether or not ear, nose or lip piercing was Halal. I responded back that (from my knowledge) neither nose nor lip piercing is not Halal because it is imitating the Kufr. But I said that ear pierce is Halal because of this Hadith

<p>From Sahih Bukhari

Volume 1, Book 3, Number 97g:

<p>"Narrated Ibn 'Abbas:

Once Allah's Apostle came out while Bilal was accompanying him. He went towards the women thinking that they had not heard him (i.e. his sermon). So he preached them and ordered them to pay alms. (Hearing that) the women started giving alms; some donated their ear-rings, some gave their rings and Bilal was collecting them in the corner of his garment."

A non-Muslim responded back that he/she doesn't understand how that Hadith the speaks on the Halal or Haram issue of ear piercing. Someone else tried to explain to him/her that this Hadith could be used to state the Halal issue of ear piercing because the Prophet (SAW) didn't prohibit the women from practicing this custom. But he/she thought we were assuming wrong on this issue.
My question is can anyone provide me with more information on using Hadiths like this one to prove Halal or Haram. And how can I explain to him/her clearly.
Jazak.

Assalaam alaikum wa rahmatu Allahi wa barakatuh,
I don't see any relationship with that hadeeth and a ruling either, Allah knows best.
Question:

Is it permissible for a Muslim teenager who wears hijab to pierce her nose or eyebrow?

Answer:

Praise be to Allaah.

It is better not to do this, because it serves no purpose and causes pain and mutilation to the nose, and more so in the case of the eyebrow, by making holes in them. With regard to piercing the earlobes in order to wear earrings, this was the custom of women at the time of the Prophet  (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), so it is better to limit ourselves to that.

Assalaam alaikum wa rahmatu Allahi wa barakatuh,
This is not in the original question, but since Bedreya mentioned it, I will post another opinion about a different area of the body.
Question:

Are Muslim women allowed to get their navel pierced for adornment?

Answer:

Answered by:
Sheikh `Abd al-Wahhâb al-Turayrî

This would be permissible, especially if it is considered acceptable adornment by people in your region of the world as long as there is no ensuing harm on the body. This takes the same ruling that piercing the nose or ear takes in other countries.

                    Salaamu Alaikum Sister,

Allahu Alim if it is allowed to pierce the belly button but from just an Islamic viewpoint the belly button is in the area of the body that is considered "awra" and is not allowed to be uncovered in front of another woman. So I am not sure how it could be pierced without exposing it, unless you do it yourself?!

I pierced my own nose   before I became Muslim and kept the nose-ring for 6 years, the last five years I was Muslim and my husband liked it; I also wear niqaab so no one else saw it but family and sisters. When I had my son I took it out to stay in hospital and when I returned home my hole had closed up and I wasn't brave enough to re-pierce it myself again :!:

I asked my dh once if he would mind me having my belly button done and he said it is nice but I am getting old for those kind of things LOLOLOL

Sister I know we're not supposed to be discussing things here.  I just wanted to say I was confused reading 2 fatwah's with 2 opinions.
In the beauty/household forum there is a thread about peircing and I would loooooooooooove :!:  to continue this converstation there before Muslimsister comes and strikes us with her ruler  for breaking the rules
I am not for any other piecings other than the nose and ears.  The belly area is just so cute.  I would do it myself yes.
I'm no spring chicken either sis.  LOL laugh.gif
