                    Salam Alaikum Dear Muslimsister;

I've posted this question in Household and Beauty Tips section, but I guess it's more appropriate to post it here. Here's the question:

I just received an emel which claims that Cadbury chocolate puts Emulsifier 476 is haraam.

Anybody have Cadbury chocolate wrapper with them right now? Please check and tell me if the ingredient indeed is added in Cadbury chocolates?

Also, can someone verify if Emulsifier 476 is haraam?

Thank you very much.

Cadbury-lover,
Bubbles

                    Assalaam alaikum wa rahmatu Allah,
When it comes to naming products, it is always best to contact either the company branch directly in your country or your local Islamic halal food board or organization.  Emuslifiers and other products vary from country to country, region to region, and one cannot therefore give a blanket rule since one Cadbury product may be halal in one country and not in another.
In the US and Canada, they don't even use the E system.
You can write Cadbury and ask them, but don't just ask about the emulsifier, ask about the specific product.
Jazaki Allahu khairan.
