when i got it done (b4 my mother inlaws incident) i had said to do it on the lighter frequency as i have sensitive skin, thank god i said that   I personally found it quite effective tho.

Asalaam Alaikum

Laser hair removal is permanent and effective.

Shop around for the best price and get client feedback.  As many different lasers are used and give different results.  With some you only need upto 4 treatments to get permanent results with others many many more.

Make sure it is a qualified nurse/beautician who treats you. Try to get some sort of gaurantee before you start treatment so your money is not wasted.

Hope that helps. Inshallah.

Wow, laser... sounds scary... I can't even imagine waxing... I'm SO supersensitive i'd probably cry too much even with that...

But i have a question about hair removal!

I saw on tv that a man was adviced to use face/body scrub before shaving. Does anyone know if us women could use that too? To other than facial hair... Has anyone even heard of this before?

They said it makes it easier to shave and smoothness last longer (coz the scrub brings UP the hairs...)

Asalaam'Alaikum

Laser hair removal should not leave any scar's.  Because the Laser is developed to pick up the pigmitation in the hair.  So the darker your hair is the better results you should get.

Again make sure that a perfessional is treating you.  This way thay can also explain the procedure.

It can be a bit sensitive as it is zapping the root of the hair to stop growth. But you get used to it.. and the results are great. smile.gif

I did Laser on my face and on my lower legs. I would get entire body done but I'm pg so I cant't.  I used to have to thread every week, I did laser 3x (suppose to go for 5) and I have to say, I havent yet had to redo anything on face for at least 4 months. Legs, a lot of hair is gone but I need to do it again for all to be gone. I will as soon as I can. My therapist is a medical doctor from pakistan so she is used to dealing with carmel skin.

I started doing it in London but then when I moved to Toronto I continued it there. Its at the back of many magazines over there. I went to one in
Notting Gate - near the mall .  It wasnt extremely expensive.

I think it is less painful than waxing.  You feel each prick but honestly its bearable.

I dont remember the exact place I went but they had several laser technicians.

Salam alaikum,

I posted this as a reply to another posting so I am reposting it since essentially this is the dame topic. Hope it helps someone.

No you do not get burned. Electrolysis involves a needle even thinner than what your dentist would use. The needle is inserted beside a hair all the way down to the hair root; then the technician presses a button and a current flows to the tip of the needle, thus heating it to a high temperature for a slit second thereby killing the root. It feels like a light bee sting. With a dead root the hair will not regrow or if it does regrow it has been significantly weakened. Sometimes the process has to be repeated as in the case of men and some women with hormone imbalances.

The disadvantage is that it might take a year of treatments to clear large areas such as legs, pubic areas or arms. The face usually is the easiest.

Burning is not a problem since the area is immediately sterilized after application. also the application of a topical anaesthetic is often used.  Some people also take a couple of Tylenol 3's to kill the pain.

About how much is the price range for permanent hair removal? Also, I have a question about waxing. Isnt it true that waxing only works on long hairs? Because I tried waxing my arms with the homemade wax and it didnt work. So, I stopped shaving my legs for a while and tried again when the hair grew out, and it worked but it was SO painful. I wax the hair on my upper lip with a store-bought wax and it works really well. Anyway, my question is, isnt it easier to shave your legs and large areas of the body, rather than wax? Becuz A) waxing is painful, and cool.gif u have to let the hair grow really long b4 u can wax it?
